Tiger
Madhya Pradesh is a state in central India, nicknamed the “Heart of India” due to its geographical location. Madhya Pradesh is the second largest Indian state by area and the fifth largest state by population with over 75 million residents. Madhya Pradesh is home to ten national parks, and five five of them are declared tiger reserves. As per the recent results of the fourth cycle of All India Tiger Estimation – 2018, Madhya Pradesh saw the highest number of tigers, a whopping 526 individuals! In this tour, we will travel through one of the most gifted state of India in terms of wildlife. We will be covering three of the best national parks and tiger reserves of the state, and arguably, of the entire country. Our journey will start from the national capital city of Delhi. After spending a while in the capital and exploring the rich heritage offerings of the city, you will take an overnight train to Jabalpur, one of biggest cities of Madhya Pradesh. After getting off at Jabalpur, your road journey would kick-off. The first stop of this trip would be Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Being a comparatively smaller in area, the park boasts the highest density of tigers in the world! Spending a few days in the company of few of the most legendary tigers of India, we will move south to the next park on the list, Kanha Tiger Reserve, the largest national park of Madhya Pradesh. Today, the entire reserve forest stretches across 2,000 sq. km, and is the home to immense diversity. Kanha is the motivation behind the forest depicted in the famous novel by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book. The barasingha, or hard-ground swamp deer is the state animal of Madhya Pradesh. It was very close to extinction when a successful breeding program and conservation practices at Kanha brought the animals back from the brink. After a few days in this pristine wild forest of central India, we will move on to the final destination of this trip, the Pench Tiger Reserve. Pench is on the southern boundary of the state, and is one of the best managed parks in India. With some beautiful landscape, and wildlife and birdlife population. By the end of this trip, you could expect some of the most stunning wildlife on your camera sensors and in your hearts. Ranging from the ferocious and fearless royal Bengal tiger and dhole (or Indian wild dog), to the calm and timid barasingha and barking deer, you will see one of the best of the wildlife India has to offer!
