Madhya Pradesh (MP) state is situated in central India. The state is bordered by different states - to its northeast lies Uttar Pradesh, to its southeast lies Chhattisgarh, to its south lies Maharashtra, to its west lies Gujarat and MP is popularly known as the Heart of India. MP's capital is Bhopal, which is also the largest city here. Madhya Pradesh is the second biggest state in India. It has a population of over 75 million, and hence it ranks sixth in India as far as the population is considered.

Arriving to Bandhavgarh:

To reach Bandhavgarh, you will have to land at Jaipur airport/railway station then will have to take a bus for the destination.

Madhya Pradesh's climate is more of the subtropical type. Summers here go on from April to June with as hot and dry climate. The monsoons here are from July to September. The winters here are from November to February and the climate is cool and dry. Madhya Pradesh has a rich culture of both classical and folk music. The state is more prominently known for the classical music.

Day 1:  Bandhavgarh National Park

A drive down to Bandhavgarh is of 250 kms from khanha national park. This is a small National Park; compact, yet full of game. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh is the highest known in India. White Tiger country, they were found only here in the Wild about 60 years back. Maharaja Martand Singh captured the last known in 1951. This White tiger, Mohan, is now stuffed and on display in the Palace of the Maharajas of Rewa.

Bandhavgarh is densely populated with other species: sambar and barking deer are a common sight and nilgai are to be seen in the more open areas of the park, wild boar, jackal, barking deer, sloth bear, and an occasional Wolf or a pack of Wild Dogs are good sights to see and behold.

The game drives carry and the tiger is spotted in the forest. It is due to the efforts of the forest department and the technology that has helped them come up with a breakthrough devise of tracking the big cat. Every day, early in the morning, elephants and their "Mahouts" (drivers) are sent out into the jungle, in search of the Tiger.

Once it has been sighted, a radio message is flashed to the Forest Ranger, who in turn informs the visitors in their jeeps, who are then taken on elephant-back, into the bush, to see the elusive Tiger.

Day after day after day the jungle has had its magic on the visitors who every morning takes a plunge into the forest to discover the undiscovered and capture those beautiful moments with the big cat. As the sunsets and the evening draws near a night at the park is an experience of a lifetime. There are other recreational activities that take place to provide entertainment to the visitors.

The morning wakeup call with morning safari, delicious breakfast and lunch to be relished before moving out of Bandhavgarh national park. After evening drive and early dinner drive to Umaria railway station (32 Kms) to board Kalinga Utkal Express to Agra.

Day 2: Departure

Visit the jungle once more to wave a good bye and take your transportation for Jaipur. There you will find the flight or train for your home town.
